LITA workshops at ALA Midwinter Meeting

LITA is offering two full-day workshops, to be held from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday, January 25 at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Seattle. Congratulations to LITA Members Selected as 2013 Emerging Leaders

The LITA Board of Directors is pleased to congratulate Zach Coble and Margaret Heller on being selected to participate in the ALA 2013 Emerging Leaders Program and on being selected for LITA sponsorship.  LITA sponsorship includes a $1,000 stipend to help offset the costs of attending the 2013 Midwinter Meeting and the 2013 Annual Conference.  In addition, Zach and Margaret will each work on LITA projects and be mentored by the LITA leadership. Zach is currently a systems and emerging technologies librarian at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA.  Zach is a member of the LITA Publications Committee.  Margaret is currently a web services librarian at the Dominican University Library in River Forest, IL.  Margaret is a member of the LITA Education Committee and 2013 LITA Forum Planning Committee. LITA/Library Hi Tech award nominations sought

Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 LITA/Library Hi Tech Award, which is given each year to an individual or institution for outstanding achievement in educating the profession about cutting edge technology through communication in continuing education within the field of library and information technology. LITA and Library Hi Tech, the award includes a citation of merit and a $1,000 stipend provided by Emerald Group Publishing Limited, publishers of Library Hi Tech.  The deadline for nominations is December 17, 2012. The award, given to either an individual or an institution, may recognize a single seminal work or a body of work created during or continuing into the five years immediately preceding the award year.  The body of work need not be limited to published texts, but can include course plans or actual courses and/or non-print publications such as visual media.  More information and a list of previous winners can be…
