2016 Election Slate

The LITA Board is pleased to announce the following slate of candidates for the 2016 spring election: Candidates for Vice-President/President-Elect David Lee King Andromeda Yelton Candidates for Director-at-Large, 2 elected for a 3-year term Breanne Kirsch Topher Lawton Holbrook Sample Evviva Weinraub Candidates for LITA Councilor, 1 elected for a 3-year term Aaron Dobbs Debra Shapiro View bios and statements for more information about the candidates. Voting in the 2016 ALA election will begin on March 25 and close on April 22. Election results will be announced on April 29. Note that eligible members will be sent their voting credentials via email over a three-day period, March 15-18. Check the main ALA website for information about the general ALA election. LITA and ALA elections close on May 1, 2015

There is still time to vote for LITA and ALA candidates. The polls will close on Friday May 1, at 11:59 pm Central Time. So make sure you cast your ballot. LITA Public Libraries Technology Interest Group Meeting

The PLTIG business meeting focused on further developing our program idea for Annual 2009. The program looks at how various libraries and consortia have used technology to bring their summer reading programs “online”–from patron front-ends to backends for creating statistical and tracking reports. (How many repeat customers did your summer reading program have this year?) Discussion focused on speaker selection, developing guidelines for speakers, preparing a resource list for attendees, and publicity options. The group also discussed plans for Midwinter. Instead of hosting a managed discussion as we have done in the past, we decided simply to hold a business meeting. We’ll work further on the 2009 program at Midwinter as well as begin the process of planning for Annual 2010. As part of the Midwinter discussion, we also touched on the perennial topic of “what’s the purpose of this IG?” We concluded that our purpose was to provide programming…
