Using Scrum to Streamline Web Applications Development and Increase Staff Involvement
Presented by Michelle Frisque (Northwestern University); July 18, Noon -2:00pm CDT

Are your web projects consistently taking more time to complete than originally planned? Are you having problems prioritizing your web projects? Is it unclear what roles staff will play in creating, designing, testing and/or approving a web project? If you answered yes to any of these questions Scrum may be the solution for you. Scrum is an iterative, incremental framework for agile software development. Work is done in short bursts, also known as sprints, of two to four weeks allowing the programming or web team to have features ready for use within weeks instead of months.

The Scrum framework allows programmers to move new features, updates and changes to the production environment faster. Web Committee members play a more active role in the development process, assisting in gathering requirements, working with the programming team to prioritize features, and coordinating the testing of features before they are deployed.
