Veteran presenters and publication gurus, we are looking for you! LITA is putting together a special webinar series to disseminate expertise on turning ideas and projects into conference presentations, workshops, publications, and best practices for social media. We are seeking webinars on topics such as where to publish, assessing metrics for potential publication outlets, how to make a strong submission, and creating social media buzz. If you have a formula for achieving these goals, or techniques, tricks, or best practices that have served you well, we’d love to work with you to help you share your expertise with a national audience. We deliberately seek and strongly encourage submissions from underrepresented groups, such as women, people of color, the LGBTQA+ community, and people with disabilities. What library technology topics are you passionate about? Have something you can help others learn? LITA invites you to share your expertise with a national audience! Our courses and webinars are based on topics of interest to library technology workers and technology managers at all levels in all types of libraries. Taught by experts, they reach beyond physical conferences to bring high quality continuing education to the library world. We deliberately seek and strongly encourage submissions from underrepresented groups, such as women, people of color, the LGBTQA+ community, and people with disabilities. Submit a proposal by July 5th to teach a webinar, webinar series, or online course for Summer/Fall 2019 or in 2020. Tutorial Magic: Using Springshare’s LibWizard to create an online performance based assessment tool In my current role as Student Success Librarian I am constantly on the lookout for new ways that provide evidence of our instruction efforts. The challenge in this is the need to produce and manage data that highlights students’ understanding and application of the information literacy concepts we are teaching. Given the current shift in assessment methods in library instruction performance based assessments are our best bet. Performance based assessments, “reinforce the concept that what students learn in class should be usable outside the classroom,” and provide students the opportunity to “make sense” of the how the research process and library resources work together (Oakleaf 2008).
